When you have successfully completed both taster courses delivered by TAFE NSW, you can continue onto a pathway with Master Builders to complete the remaining seven units of competency towards a qualification in CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING BASICS 

SITE SAFETY, PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, CODES AND STANDARDS

Course Number: C4SSC01 


Course Description

This course covers five units of competency from CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building). The residential site safety component addresses the implementation and management of health and safety on building and construction sites, including compliance to legislative and regulatory requirements. The plans, specifications, codes and standards component aims to assist participants to understand and apply technical and legislative requirements in building and construction projects, this includes a comprehensive working knowledge of the National Construction Code (Building Code of Australia) and quality assurance procedures.

What units will be covered?

The following units of competency will be delivered by TAFE NSW:

CPCCBC4002A Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace

CPCCBC4001A Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for low rise building

CPCCBC4012B Read and interpret plans and specifications

CPCCBC4026A Arrange building applications and approvals

CPCCBC4009B Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects

What are the entry requirements?

  • Minimum of five years full-time (or equivalent) experience in the building and construction industry
  • Valid White Card (general construction induction card)
  • You live or work in NSW
  • You are an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident or a humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen

During the application process, you will be required to supply two (2) referees who can confirm your previous experience. Each referee must have known and worked with you for at least 12 months. It is preferred that referees are licensed builders.

This training is subsidised by NSW Government, so there is no cost to you*. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements listed above.

 

RESIDENTIAL BUILDING BASICS 

CONTRACT MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

Course Number: C4SSC02


Course Description

This course covers four units of competency from CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building). The course addresses the terms and conditions, negotiation, preparation and monitoring of contracts for building and construction projects, this includes the administration of contractual obligations, including terms of payment.

What units will be covered?

The following units of competency will be delivered by TAFE NSW:

CPCCBC4003A Select and prepare a construction contract

CPCCBC4024A Resolve business disputes

CPCCBC4007A Plan building or construction work

CPCCBC4008B Conduct on-site supervision of building and construction projects

When I have completed both of the TAFE NSW taster courses, how would I continue onto a pathway towards a qualification in CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)?
If you have successfully completed all nine units of competency within both Residential Building Basics taster courses delivered by TAFE NSW (RTO 90000), you are eligible to continue onto a pathway with Master Builders (RTO 6163) to undertake the remaining seven units of competency from CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).
