Pathway To Your Joinery Contractor Licence

If you have experience in the building and construction industry, Master Builders can help get your skills, knowledge and experience recognised.

Master Builders MSF31113 Certificate III in Cabinet Making Onsite RPL program is designed to formally recognise skills already gained through on-the-job cabinet making experience through a process called Recognition of Prior Learning.

Upon successful completion of this program, you will achieve a nationally recognised qualification in MSF31113 Certificate III in Cabinet Making.

DELIVERY

Onsite Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

This Onsite RPL program involves demonstration and assessment of your skills, knowledge and experience. The RPL process involves a Master Builders Assessor visiting you at your worksite to conduct practical assessments while you undertake and complete cabinet making and installation tasks on building and construction projects. During the program, you will also be assessed on structured knowledge questions and receive guidance to gather and compile a portfolio of evidence required to demonstrate competency in MSF31113 Certificate III in Cabinet Making.

DURATION

You will have a six (6) month period in which to complete this Onsite RPL program.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Master Builders applies the following entry requirements:

  • You have a minimum of three (3) years full-time (or equivalent) joinery or cabinet making related experience in the building and construction industry (experience must be within the last ten (10) years)
  • You have a valid White Card (general construction induction card)
  • You are currently working on active projects
  • You are able to provide the details of two (2) referees that have worked with you for 12 months or more and can confirm your work history / experience (Referees must be a qualified/licenced joiner or cabinet maker)
  • You are able to answer at least 80% of the technical industry questions correctly during your application process

LICENCING

This program has been designed to meet part of the NSW Fair Trading criteria to apply for a Joinery Contractor’s Licence. Visit the NSW Fair Trading website for further information www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au.

FEES

This program may be subsidised by NSW Government under Smart and Skilled. The following eligibility criteria applies for this subsidy:

  • You are 15 years or older
  • You are no longer attending school
  • You live or work in NSW
  • You are an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident or a humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen

If you are eligible for the government subsidy, your student fee will be determined by NSW Government.

A general guide to fees for this course is as follows:

If you do not hold a previous qualification from $1,430*
If you do hold a previous qualification from $1,720*
If you are not eligible for the NSW Government subsidy or if funding is unavailable $2,200 (members) / $2,400 (non-members)

Master Builders can only offer Smart and Skilled places for those who live and/or work in the Sydney Metropolitan area and the Newcastle region. This subsidised training is strictly limited and is subject to eligibility criteria. 

*Student fees will increase if you are assessed as ‘not yet competent’ by Recognition of Prior Learning in any unit/s of competency and are required to undertake classroom or distance based training and assessment. Fees may increase on a pro rata basis per unit of competency to a maximum of $3,580.00.

Payment of a $1,000.00 enrolment fee is required upon enrolment, and remaining fees are due one month after commencement of the program. All participant fees are GST exempt. Upon successful enrolment, Master Builders will confirm your fee for this course.
